Mandawa, a rustic town located in the Sekhawati region of Rajasthan is popularly known as the 'Open-air gallery' of Rajasthan. A local Rajput warrior named Thakur Nawal Singh established this town in the year 1755. Formerly a prosperous trading town, Mandawa is now famous for its beautiful havelis and mansions with their elaborately painted walls and frescoes. Today Mandawa has a flourishing handicrafts and furniture industry whose products have gained worldwide appreciation. The best time to travel to Mandawa is during the winters (October to March).
